At age 15 Nick went to work on the railway at Lumsden.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After several years of working on the railway Nick  and married Anastasia Janczak (Yonchuk). At age 24, applied for his homestead patent for NE 1\/4, Sec 12, Township 40. Range 25W of 2nd Meridian. Here they made their homestead approximately one mile north of Prud\u2019homme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like many other pioneers starting out they worked the land with oxen and later horses and used a mud oven to bake bread and used a part of the house to store grain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nick was a farmer and also he was a councilor and the Reeve for the Grant Municipality for many years.&nbsp;Anastasia was a lady with a wonderful sense of humour, a loving heart and always understanding and kind.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nick and Anastasia had two girls, Lena and Annie.&nbsp; Unfortunately, a house fire claimed the life of the oldest daughter, Lena (d. 1910).&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nick passed away in July 1950 at the age of 66 and&nbsp;Anastasia passed away in July 1972 at age 87.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nickola Lucyszyn was born in October 1887 and immigrated to Canada in 1902 with his parent Michael &amp; Agneigzka Lucyszyn along with his 5 siblings.
